Purple Hybrid Mattress delivers the same Purple feel with a stronger and more supportive construction. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Purple Hybrid mattresses are made by the same company who created Hyper-Elastic polymer and the original Purple mattress. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. Stick around to find out if a Purple Hybrid mattress is the right choice for you.
Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It’s firmer than the other models and is suitable for stomach and back sleepers. It’s also one of the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattresses.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a bit softer and lands around a medium to medium-firm on the scale. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 is the most expensive of the Purple hybrid beds, but it’s a whopping 13 inches thick and is extra supportive. The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 has a medium to firm profile, which we believe would suit most body types.

First Impressions
Purple Hybrids feature purple detailing throughout their beds, which is a nice touch for those who are passionate about the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. The main thing people want to know about this mattress is what does the Purple feel like?
It’s certainly not the same innerspring mattress that Grandma used in her guest room. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Purple Hybrid Mattress Firmness & Feel
No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.
It is not noticeable when you lay down. You just feel like you’re floating over your back or on a hammock. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you’re curious about the Purple Hybrid but you aren’t willing to explore unconventional ways of bedding, you might want to look elsewhere. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.
Both of them fall in the middle to mid-firm range, or roughly a 6 on our firmness scale. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Construction of Purple Hybrid Mattresses
Purple Hybrid is available in three models with different Purple Grid gel layers.
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Here’s a simple breakdown of the bed’s layers so you get an idea of what makes Purple, Purple:
A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It’s the main reason why this mattress is so supportive.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the main layer that differentiates it from the Purple Hybrid mattress. Each mattress has a different thickness. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. It feels more breathable than traditional mattress covers. I compare it to an athletic antisweat top rather than a soft cotton one. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review

Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. The only difference in construction is the top layers.
The Purple 3 has a 3-inch layer of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at the top, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
Although they feel the same, it does not make a big difference in their feel. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It barely makes any noise, and it’s almost impossible to notice your partner moving on the opposite side. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Edge Support
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
As a result, I give edge support capabilities on this mattress two enthusiastic thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Purple Hybrids’ Ideal Sleeping Positions & Body Types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
You have so many options. Generally, your perfect mattress comes down to your body type and your favorite position to sleep in. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Position
Side, stomach, back, or a combination thereof are the primary sleeping positions. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.
If you’re a side sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid, I’d opt for one of the Purple Premier mattresses. They are slightly more comfortable and relieve pressure than the standard hybrid mattress, which will be a plus for your shoulders. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Type of Body
The Purple Hybrid beds can be used regardless of body weight, so no matter what size you are, they will fit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. They are made with steel pocketed coils that sit on top of the mattress. This makes them more durable than traditional foam beds. It will be noticeable how the mattress will perform over the years compared with an all foam mattress. Purple Mattress Hybrid Review
Price
The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. The prices start at $1,299, and can go up to $1,899. The bed is not usually discounted, but there may be a promotion for free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are made with metal coils and foam that provide support and softness.
