How Firm Is the GhostBed?
When it comes to firmness, the GhostBed is an 8/10, making it firmer than average.
The high density support foam is responsible for much of the firmness. The high density support foam is designed to provide a stable sleeping surface that is well-suited to back sleepers and stomach sleepers, in particular.
Sleeping on the GhostBed
The GhostBed is a good choice for most back sleepers. The mattress conforms to the natural curvature of the spine, making it a great mattress for people who suffer from back pain.
Most lightweight back sleepers will find the GhostBed is one of the best mattresses for back sleepers. It’s a bit firm, but still comfortable.
Stomach sleepers should get the support they need under their hips.

What Does the GhostBed Feel Like?
The balanced feel of traditional foam mattresses will make the GhostBed great for sleeping on.
This mattress is a good, comfortable choice for those who move a lot during the night. It responds well to movement and fits the contours of the body.
Average Weight Sleepers (130 lbs – 230 lbs)
If you’re closer to the lower end of this weight range and a back sleeper, you may find the bed a little too firm. Again, we enrourage you to check out the Ghostbed Luxe or the 3D Matrix.
It is the right balance of comfort and support for people closer to 230 lbs.
The GhostBed should be comfortable and supportive for stomach sleepers in this weight range.
However, for average-weight side sleepers, the GhostBed isn’t a good match. It doesn’t have enough give to relieve pressure points. For average weight side sleepers, take a look at the Ghostbed Luxe.
Heavyweight Sleepers (>230 lbs)
The Ghostbed is comfortable, but if you are more than 300 lbs it is important to choose a mattress that has been made with coils for added durability and support.
The GhostBed should be able to offer just the right amount of firmness for stomach sleepers who are around 230 lbs. If you weigh more than 300 lbs, however, you should find a more sturdy mattress.
The GhostBed is likely to be too firm for side sleepers in the heavier category. We recommend checking out the Ghostbed Flex if this is you.
Lightweight Sleepers (<130 lbs)
The GhostBed may feel too firm, so lightweight back and side sleepers need to be aware of that.
Those who prefer side sleeping may experience some pain at the shoulders and hips. For those we recommend either the Ghostbed Flex or Ghostbed Luxe.

On the inside the GhostBed is surrounded by a 1.5″ of aerated latex foam.
It is a synthetic latex so those looking for an all-natural or organic option may want to look elsewhere.
From a performance point of view, this latex does the trick, it is responsive and it isventilated to keep you cool throughout the night.
Under that, you’ll find another 2″ of gel memory foam, to prevent sweating throughout the night. Additionally, it adds some pressure relief to the mattress.
